The Great Wall of China | Juyongguan Pass, Beijing

I managed to squeeze in a few hour excursion to The Great Wall of China, during my trip to Beijing in November 2017.

The weather on the day of my trip was an incredibly fine with clear blue sky and strong cold wind.

I went to the Juyongguan Pass entry point, it is the first pass at the west of the Great Wall of China and the nearest to Beijing capital city pass.  It is also known as "the Impregnable Pass under the Heaven".

Here's the access fees and the opening hours; I pay CNY35 for my entry on that day.

Admission Fee	April to October	CNY 45 for adults and children over 3.9 feet (1.2 meters).
	November to March	CNY 40 for adults and children over 3.9 feet (1.2 meters).
Opening Hours	April to October	8:00 – 17:00
	November to March	8:30 – 16:00

*Free for children less than 3.9 feet (1.2 meters) in height.

12th Anniversary

On our 12th Anniversary, we went back to our used-to-be favourite place for dinner, at My Restaurant.

Food still taste good as always, but the place is so quiet, maybe because the location is a bit off from the city center or maybe due to the steep price of the food, i dunno.

Tempat ni saya pergi sorang, anak-anak dah tak larat nak jalan. Senang je nak ke shrine ni, only 2 train station away from Kyoto Station, lagipun last year kami dah pernah ke sini.

Awal pagi saya dah gerak, naik train sama ngan budak2 sekolah. Ramai je solo traveller masa tu, siap ada yg offer tolong tangkapkan gambar lagi, mungkin kesian kot tengok kite syiok sendiri ber-selfie :D.
Best datang awal, suasana sunyi dan tenang.

Weather at 18 degree celsius makes it nice and cold and at the same time we can stay longer by the river to enjoy the view.  Kids love playing rocks by the river. It’s so beautiful and calming here.

Weather is just nice at 11 degree Celsius.

Beijing 2017 | 1st meal - Seafood

From the airport we straight away go for food hunting, so here's my 1st meal in Beijing. 

At 2 am in the morning and the weather is so cold at 2 degrees Celsius,  the food taste so good!

 

 

Clam. Sweet, sour and spicy, so good.

Prawn, very fresh.

 I don't really like beer, I have tried few beers back home, but this Yanjing Fresh Beer is good, and it does taste refreshing. Goes very well with this bean curd skin cold dish.

In this restaurant, they serve the 'noodle tea', which is the hot water that they use to boiled/cooked the plain noodle (noodle broth). At the 1st sip, it kind of taste weird, but I grew to like it, now I am still thinking and wanting more of the noodle tea :D

What I learn from the local is that Beijing does not have their own produce, what more to say their own seafood, however, most of the major import/export activities take place in Beijing, so basically you can enjoy any type the fresh produce from all over China in Beijing.

Beijing Capital International Airport

I was in Beijing last week.

I fly via Malaysia Airlines and landed at Terminal 3, Beijing Capital International Airport, China.

Beijing Airport is one big, clean and systematic airport, the immigration check-point was fast partly maybe due to the fact that I arrived at 12.12 mid-night.

Emmett: I never lose them, they just walked away from me!

Asian Recipe Cafe, Kuching

Yesterday, after an Evening Mass at the church, we went to Asian Recipe Cafe, Premier 101 for dinner.

We have been here for a couple of time now.  They have quite a range of menu, and of coz our must order is the Mango Sticky Rice, which is out-of-stock most of the time.  We were lucky last night as we got the last plate of the day.

So, here’s what we ordered...

Pineapple fried rice - RM8

Butter chicken rice - RM9.50

Chicken with deep fried kale - RM16

Last but not least, Mango sticky rice - RM7

Soft drinks at RM4 each.

Air-cond, clean place, decent food; I am thankful!
