Emmett Arts & Crafts #1

Emmett's arts and crafts might not the best in his class, maybe even the worst. He inherited his talent (or lack of it) from both me and his father.

Having said that, I still want to record down his schoolwork for PSV subject Tahun 6.  Since he is studying from home now, I am very much involved in his schoolwork, in pushing him to complete his work on-time.

Here's his work for Jan - Feb 2021.

Luno and Bitcoin

I know I might be a little too late in this bitcoin thingy. I have been following bitcoin progress for a few years now, just that I don't dare to make a move yet.

I do believe in its concept and the security, but I just don't get it, where does the seed money or the initial virtual gold come from?

But hey, sometimes you just need to take the risk in order to understand more. Just enjoy the ride.

And today I finally got my Luno account approved, after downloading the app for more than a year now, but did not do anything about it.  This is my 1st step.

Congratulations! You’ve taken your first steps – your Luno account is now ready for you to buy, sell, store, and trade crypto.

Another reason why I start collecting bitcoin now, besides Tesla, is because hubby just started his mining work (his latest obsession), however, he is not interested in keeping those cryptocurrencies, so might as well just transfer (sell) them to me. win-win situation, don't you think?

Transferring bitcoin as we speak; requires 3 Blockchain confirmations before receiving.

Got to find something new to learn every now and then.

Ohh My Fridge

We purchased this fridge approximately 13 years ago when we moved into our current home.
We bought a small fridge because we know the bigger the fridge, the more garbage we going to store.

Panasonic - RM950 +
Can you see Emmett’s artwork on the fridge?

For the past 11 years, our fridge has been incredibly reliable, never experiencing any breakdowns. However, it chose last weekend to give up on us.

The worst part was that it died on Chinese New Year's Eve.  Where la to find a shop that can deliver at that time?  That night we transferred all our frozen meat to my sister's house.  We just did you stock up since we know most shops will be closed for CNY.

So that's how we spent our CNY weekend this year, looking for a new fridge.

Emmett said: Buy online la Mummy.
Son, not all things are more convenient online.

On the 1st day of CNY, we checked around which shop was open on that day. Harvey Norman is the only shop we can find, so to Vivacity Mall, we went.  After looking around and deciding on a fridge, the sales girl told us that their warehouse only opens on 16th Feb, that's when they can deliver.  What?! 5 days from now? No, we did not get the fridge from Harvey Norman.

On the 2nd day of CNY, we checked, SenQ is open, so we went to Aeon Mall. So many people, we hardly find a parking space, I decided to just stay in the car, not going to brave the crowd.  Hubby went in and after awhile came out saying that SenQ can only deliver on Monday.  Off we go again.

On the 3rd day of CNY, Siong How is open, so we went to the MJC branch.  They said if we get a small fridge they can deliver on that day using their staff transport.  Ok, small size it is.

So here's our new fridge, Toshiba, similar size to our previous Panasonic.

Hokkaido 2019 | Jozankei Dam and Asari Dam

From Jozankei we continue our drive toward Otaru town.  We took the scenic countryside road that passes through tunnels and 2 hydro dams.

1st one is the Jozankei Dam. Completed in 1989 and there also a museum that is free for entry.

And the 2nd is the Asari Dam in Otaru area.  Completed in 1993, and the man-made lake which resulted from the construction of the dam is called Otarunai Lake.

Hokkaido 2019 | Jozankei

Jozankei is an onsen town about 1 hour drive from Sapporo city.Jozankei Onsen (定山渓温泉, Jōzankei Onsen) is located inside Shikotsu-Toya National Park.  There are many footbaths station can be found around the town, and of coz there is plenty of onsen ryokan there too.

Kappa legend is the mascot of the town.  You will find many Kappa statues around the town.  And the souvenir shops also selling items like keychains out of Kappa image. Cute but mystical.

1st thing we do when we reach there was to look for a lunch place.  We found this small home base cafe not far from a foot bath station.  We ordered the common menu like ramen, fried rice, and pork skewers.  There’s one thing special that we ate there is the chicken skin dumplings.  It was so yummy, juicy pork meat wrap in crispy chicken skin, such a sinful dish, one plate was not enough we had to re-order. Haha.

After our meal, we walked over to the footbath for our 1st onsen experience.  It was nice to soak our feet in the hot water on the cold windy day.

Beautiful scenery at the corner of the town.

After the footbath,  we went looking for the red Futami suspension bridge.  We took the longer route, did a bit of trekking before reaching the bridge.  It is a beautiful place, but I am sure it is more beautiful during Autumn and Winter.
