Pasti ramai yang dah tak sabar nak keluar dari rumah masing-masing kan?

Ye, Sarawak Domestic Tourism dah dibuka, tapi masih perlukan Polis Permit, even for the inter-district travel.  Saya sertakan SOPs di bawah.  SOP ini dikeluarkan oleh mtac.sarawak.gov.my

Saya rasa kalau nak travel dalam district sendiri ok la kot, at least tak payah nak mintak Polis Permit bagai.

Personally, for the time being, I would consider going for a family road trip, but I'll try to avoid a flight trip for leisure purposes.

But it is all up to your own choice. Yang pasti, make sure jaga diri k.

Alat - alat yang mempunyai jangka hayat yang singkat seperti bola golf dan bulu tangkis tetapi tidak termasuk pakaian sukan, contoh: pakaian renang dan kasut sukan.  Bagi sukan Fitness – apa - apa peralatan sukan berkaitan dengan aktiviti sukan tersebut adalah layak mendapat potongan di bawah perenggan 46(1)( l) ACP 1967.  Peralatan senaman seperti treadmill, exercise bike dan airwalker adalah dibenarkan. 

Bagi sukan Recreational – Diving diklasifikasikan sebagai sukan rekreasi, maka peralatan sukan berkaitan aktiviti tersebut layak mendapat potongan kecuali attire dan kasut.

Dahulu dan sekarang

Ini bukan post politikus ya.

Lately selalu dengar orang merungut pasal kenaikan harga barang sehingga membebankan rakyat.

Tapi tak kurang juga yang tersangat positive-thinking dengan mengeluarkan statement seperti:

1. kalo takda duit kenapa KFC/McD asyik penuh?
2. kenapa orang masih berpusu-pusu ke shopping complex?
3. dulu orang naik bus, sekarang semua rumah pasti ada kereta.
4. ramai yang mampu beli rumah sendiri, kalo takda duit kenapa tak menyewa je?
5. dulu nak minta duit 20sen pun payah, budak-budak sekarang duit 20sen pun tak tengok.

Pada pendapat saya...

1. makan di KFC/McD bukanlah sesuatu yang dikira kemewahan sekarang.  Saya rasa ramai yang pergi ke KFC/McD ni ialah golongan income below average.  Kalo income bagus pasti akan memilih restaurant yang tak-layan-diri or kedai organic gitu.  Disebabkan masa bekerja yang panjang, tak dapat nak masak di rumah maka KFC/McD lah yang selalu dituju.
2. orang ramai berpusu-pusu ke shopping complex terutamanya pada hujung minggu bukan la bermaksud mereka ni kaya.  Ada kemungkinannya mereka ni nak jimat lektrik di rumah, so pergi je la shopping complex untuk sejukkan badan.  Brapa ramai yang betul-betul mampu nak shopping setiap minggu, kebanyakkan setakat window shopping, cuci-cuci mata je.
3. tentang pengangkutan awam pula, tak payah nak tengok jauh,  contoh di hometown saya je, dulu boleh ada dalam 10 buah bus yang standby di bus station, sekarang nak tengok sebuah bus pun payah.  So jangan ingat orang ada kereta tu kaya, tapi terpaksa, dahlah semua tu beli dengan berhutang.  Yang dulu naik bus ada tak hutang tambang bus?!  So kamu rasa orang sekarang ke dulu yang lebih senang/kaya?!  Tengok negara maju yang sistematik macam Singapore,  pengangkutan awam sangat canggih,  tak ramai diorang yang ada kereta sendiri, adakah bermaksud mereka ni miskin?!
4. mampu beli rumah?  Rumah sekarang bayar downpayment jer dulu, yang lain tu semua hutang. Lagipun sewa rumah lagi lebih mahal banding ngan beli, kan?!
5. kenapa la nak banding duit 20sen dulu dengan duit 20sen sekarang.  Nilai mata wang sudah jauh berbeza.  Dulu 20sen dapat beli macam-macam tau..

Saya tak menyalahi atau memihak kepada mana-mana pihak.  Apa yang saya impikan bukan la sebuah negara yang kaya,  kaya tak semesti bahagia.

Memadailah sekiranya negara kita dapat masuk list Happiest Country:

 I think its quite funny that people will take this kind of survey, but it does give me a some useful guideline.

Giving Ang Pao can be quite tricky,  you tend to wonder whether the amount is too small?

You feel like giving more but do you have enough money?

AirAsia New Flight From Kuching 2014

What an exciting beginning for 2014.

Makin banyak dah direct flight kita from Kuching sekarang.

Sekarang orang Kuching boleh la pergi melancong ke Utara Malaysia selalu, kita pun tengah plan a weekend gateway ni, tengah nak slot in masa yang sesuai. 2nd half of the year la, 1st half dah fully booked.

Tengok tu, kita dah ada flight direct ke Penang, which mmg dah lama ada.  Dan yang latest ialah Kota Bahru, Kelantan dan Langkawi..seronot.

Seriously why Kelantan? Ramai ke orang Kelantan yang mai Kuching and vice versa?  Bila agak nyer kita akan ada direct flight ke Terengganu, windu sangat KT dah.

Boleh pulak ada flight Miri-KT, mesti target expat Brunei ni kan... huhu

takpe..lambat laun pasti akan ada ;)

Mangsa: Harapan saya, orang simbah asid dikenakan hukuman berat

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 Ogos — Selain mahu kembali normal seperti sediakala, mangsa disimbah asid mahu pihak berkuasa segera menangkap individu yang tidak bertanggungjawab ke atas nasib dialaminya dan dikenakan hukuman berat.

Mohd Rafie Abdul Latiff, 27, yang kini berada di Unit Rawatan Rapi, Hospital Kuala Lumpur berkata, dia berharap pihak berkuasa dapat menjalankan siasatan segera.

“Saya tiada harapan apa-apa, apa yang saya mahukan orang yang lakukan perkara ini kepada saya ditahan dan dikenakan tindakan yang berat....

...Mohd Rafie yang bekerja sebagai jurujual di sebuah pasar raya disimbah asid oleh seorang lelaki tidak dikenali ketika berada dalam keretanya di kawasan tandas awam berhampiran Wisma Bumi Raya, Jalan Raja Laut dalam kejadian kira-kira pukul 1 pagi, 8 Ogos lalu.

Semasa insiden itu, dia berada di tempat duduk penumpang dan sedang menunggu seorang rakannya yang ingin menggunakan tandas awam.

“Seorang lelaki tidak dikenali secara tiba-tiba membuka pintu kereta sebelah pemandu lalu menyimbah cecair dipercayai asid ke arah saya.

“Mujurlah rakan saya yang mendengar jeritan mengambil air dari tandas dan menyimbah untuk meringankan kesan,” katanya lagi.

Dalam perbualan ringkas dengan The Malaysian Insider, Mohd Rafie berkata, dia kemungkinan akan membuat pembedahan kulit sekiranya perlu.

Dia juga mahu kembali normal seperti sebelum kejadian malang itu.

“Sudah tentu saya mahu kembali normal seperti dulu, muka macam dulu, dapat kerja macam dulu.

“Kalau perlu saya mungkin akan buat pembedahan tapi tengok keadaanlah,” katanya.

Fake eggs

GEORGE TOWN: A woman who bought a tray of eggs in Pulau Tikus had a shock when she found them to be “fake eggs”.

Consumers Association of Penang president S.M. Mohamed Idris said the housewife had brought the eggs to his office after finding something fishy when she tried to cook them.

“She told us that the eggs did not smell like real eggs and were tasteless. It was also of unusual shapes and larger than real eggs.

“The fake egg also had a rougher surface than the genuine one.

“When cracked, there was no sign of chalaza, the structure inside the egg that keeps the yolk in place.

“The fake egg white and yolk quickly mixed together, unlike that of real eggs,” Idris said.

He said after boiling the egg and cutting it open, the egg yolk appeared to be more “yellowish” than that of a normal egg.

Idris said an e-mail widely circulated among the public in Penang had claimed that fake eggs which were common in China, were full of chemicals and sold at lower prices.

Idris also said it would be very hard to tell the difference between fake eggs and genuine ones as both looked almost identical.

“Try to look out for the weird shapes,” he said, adding that his staff members had bought more eggs from the shop frequented by the woman and found them to be “fake”.

A tray of 30 real eggs costs around RM10.50. The fake eggs cost RM11.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism enforcement chief M. Guna Selan said his office had not received any such complaint.

7 classes of plastics

#1 (PET or PETE) plastic is the kind used for bottled water bottles, which are generally regarded as safe. They have been shown to leach antimony into the water in a couple of studies, but at levels considered safe by the EPA. The scare about their leaching DEHA if reused, which you may have come across, turns out to be an urban legend. If there is any risk from reuse, it probably comes from bacterial contamination. (The bottles' narrow necks make them hard to clean.)

#2 (HDPE), 4 (LDPE) and 5 (polypropylene) plastics are generally regarded as safe.

#3 (PVC) and 6 (styrene) plastics pose health risks and should be avoided. (They are not ordinarily used for water bottles, but are used for other food and beverage containers.)

#7 plastic is usually polycarbonate and contains BPA. If you are in love with a particular #7 bottle, you could call the manufacturer to identify the plastic, but that might not make matters clearer. The "better safe than sorry" approach would be to avoid #7 altogether in my opinion.

Boy electrocuted at playground

SHAH ALAM: An 11-year-old boy was electrocuted to death when he touched a lamppost at a playground in Taman Batu Tiga here on Saturday.

SK Seksyen 20 student Muhammad Naqiuddin Mohd Marzuki was running home after playing football on a wet field with several friends when he slipped and fell at 6.50pm.

As he was falling, one of his legs touched the lamppost and he was believed to have been electrocuted.

Naqiuddin's father, Mohd Marzuki Muda, 44, said he was resting at home when five of his son's friends came and informed him about the incident.

"I rushed there to see what had happened and saw my son lying face down. One of his legs looked like it was glued to the lamppost. He was not moving.

"I took a dry stick and moved his body away from the lamppost before sending him to a private hospital nearby. He was still alive then."


Marzuki said upon arrival at the hospital, doctors found no vital signs and tried to revive Naqiuddin using cardiopulmonary resuscitation for about an hour, but failed.

"The doctors told me that my eldest son's heart could have been affected by the electric shock."

The father of three said he was upset and confused over how the lamppost could conduct electricity when it supposed to be a safe facility for the public.

Marzuki said he would lodge a complaint with the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) over the incident.

Naqiuddin's friend, Mohd Salman Shahmi, 11, said the victim left the game in a hurry.

"He was running towards his home. One of us told him not to as the field was slippery. All of a sudden, he slipped and fell.

"We heard him screaming in pain for a while before he fell silent."

Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainal Rashid Abu Bakar said police were investigating to determine the cause of the electrocution.

"At the moment, investigations are (also) being carried out by relevant authorities like Tenaga Nasional Bhd to find out the source of electricity.

"The victim's body was sent to University Malaya Medical Centre and a post-mortem confirmed that he had died of electrocution."

MPSJ council member Keshminder Singh said initial investigations revealed that the lamppost's electrical wires were intact.

"Our engineers found that there was nothing wrong with the lamppost.

"One of the possible causes may be a leakage in the underground cable.

"However, we are still investigating. MPSJ is getting to the bottom of this matter. We have cordoned off the area pending thorough checks."

St Joseph Kuching going private

*Dah nak kena register Eugene masuk sekolah primary one, tapi belum finalise lagi nak hantar dia kat sekolah mana, aduh...macam nie?

KUCHING: The St Joseph secondary and primary schools, among the oldest here, are going private.

It is learnt that the Roman Catholic Archdiocese had obtained the necessary licences to take back the two mission-turned-government schools.

The archdiocese had revealed its plan during a parish dinner in January.

When contacted, Kuching Archbishop John Ha refused to comment about the move.

“We have a committee working on it but you will have to wait until the ‘launch’,” he said, without going into the details of the ‘launch’.

The Archbishop is expected to formally announce the changes to the schools in late March or early April.

“It (the private schools) will start from next year onwards and the fees have already been worked out,” said a source.

He said both schools would go by the name Sekolah Menengah Swasta St Joseph and Sekolah Rendah Swasta St Joseph respectively.

When contacted, Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Datin Fatimah Abdullah admitted that she was aware of the archdiocese’s plan but refused to divulge any further information.

The change in the schools’ status has become a cause for concern for parents as many students feared that the school could be closed.

However, a senior staff of the school told Star Sarawak that there was no truth to talk of the schools’ closure.

“They will continue to run as usual for now,” he said.

SMK St Joseph currently has over 1,500 students whereas SK St Joseph has 855 pupils.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Teachers’ Union president William Ghani Bina believes that change in the schools’ status would not have much effect on the teachers and students if the school’s management planned the transition well.

He added that if a government school became a private school, teachers and students would have the option to either remain with the school or be transferred to a government school.

“If the teacher wants to stay on, then he would have to resign from the government. If not, then it would be like any other transfer,” he explained.

As for the students, he said their studies would not be interrupted since all government schools used the same textbooks and teachers were trained on the same syllabus.

“The only thing they might face is familiarising with their new environment and having to make new friends,” he said. SMK St Joseph is considered to be one of the most distinguished schools in the state, having churned out several high profile individuals including Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan and former State Secretary Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Hussain.

The school which was built in 1882, also has a reputation of producing top scorers one of them include ex-national squash player June Tiong who is currently studying Chemistry at the prestigious Harvard University in the US.

Tourist dies in dog attack

GEORGE TOWN: An Irish tourist died after he was attacked by two dogs at an organic farm in Teluk Bahang, about 25km from here.
The ears of Maurice Sullivan, 50, were bitten off and his chin was almost torn off in the attack which occurred at about 10am yesterday.
He also suffered bites on his body.
The cause of death has not been determined as it is learnt that the victim could have suffered a heart attack because of the trauma.
Sullivan, a volunteer helper, had gone to the farm with his 28-year-old Polish friend Agnieszka Jablonska to photograph organic plants there.
Balik Pulau OCPD Supt Mohd Hatta Mohd Zain said Jablonska had then walked to another part of the farm to take photographs of plants, leaving Sullivan alone before the attack.
“We are investigating why the canines attacked Sullivan,” Supt Mohd Hatta said, adding that the case was now classified as sudden death.
Jablonska, who works as a welfare home caretaker in Ireland, said Sullivan was visiting Penang as a voluntary environmentalist.
“He invited me to join him. We had earlier visited Grik in Perak and Pahang before arriving here,” she said.
Jablonska said they had known each other for 10 years and dated for a few years.
“I arrived in Malaysia on Nov 11 and was scheduled to leave on Feb 11. Maurice had been here since August.
“I do not want to stay here any longer. I want to leave immediately,” she said.
A post-mortem will be carried out at the Penang Hospital by senior consultant forensic pathologist Datuk Dr Bhupinder Singh at 9am today.
