Cove 55, Damai, Kuching, only 7 minute's drive from Kampung Buntal. 

A beautiful seaside resort, serving great food.
This is the place where Henry Golding had his wedding reception.

The only thing missing is a sandy beach.

After lunch at Lim Hock Ann Restaurant, we proceed to Damai Resort.

Here's our room at beach front chalet 309.  We had our staycation here a few time before; well so does the rest of the citizens of Kuching :)

Lim Hock Ann Seafood, Buntal

We kicked start the school holiday by going for a 1-night stay at Damai Resort.  On Friday, we started our journey from home at 12.15pm.  We stopped for lunch at Lim Hock Ann Seafood restaurant, Buntal.

We has been here several time before.  Food were good as usual, the place is old but worst of all, there's lots of flies.

We had..

Steamed drunken prawn - RM20

Deep fried squid - RM27

Coconut - RM6, nampak tak lalat tu?

Total RM69.50 including 1 fried rice, 1 plain rice, omelette, 1 canned drink and 1 teh o peng.

We stayed at one of the chalets that night.  Cost RM75 per night stay. The chalet is like a semi-D with 2 separate rooms.

Note that there's no electric kettle provided, so no point in bringing 3-in-1 drinks and instant noodles (if you did not bring any boiler).  But rooms are equipped with a fridge, a clean tower, a private bathroom, thin mattress and pillows.  Which is good enough for the price that we are paying.

All in all, good value for money.  We are here to enjoy nature, not so much for the accommodation.

HillTop, Damai Beach Resort

I have stayed in Damai Resort a few time in the past, but this is my 1st time staying in Hilltop.

The best part of staying in Hill Top is the view..

 The Resort has 252 spacious rooms and Suites in 2-storey buildings, chalets and ethnically-designed unit spread over its Beach, Hillview and Hilltop Wings.

A day out at Damai Beach

We brought the kids to Damai Beach last Saturday.  They had so much fun.  Let see what's our activities on that day..

We had splashing time at the pool too.  No photos taken, all were too occupied.

On the way back, we stopped by at Kampung Buntal wet market and bought some squids, crabs and lala clams there.

Damai Resort - Hillview

Satang Island, Kpg Salak, Santubong Wetlands

1.30pm - Depart from Telaga Air by boat for Satang Island for side-seeing and snorkeling.  Takes about 30 min boat ride to reach the island.

Beware - lots of sand-flies here.

There's about 100 eggs in each of the 'net'.
This 'hole' is where the turtle lays the eggs, this one was about 2 weeks ago.

There are more turtles laying eggs in Talang Island as compared to Satang, Talang is a bit further up from Satang.

The facility in Satang Island is VERY basic, this island is own my Mr. Abu (Private property).  RM120 is charged per person for 2D1N overnight here.  This include the accommodation and also the boat ride.

Kayak and snorkeling gear are available for rental at RM15 each per person.  Can do snorkeling around the area, nothing much to see, no coral reef here but great for swimming coz there's not much wave at that time.

Goodbye Satang

4pm - Arrived at Salak Traditional Fishing Village for coffee break and photo taking.  This is my 2nd time here, this kampung can be a unique experience for the tourist, but there's so much rubbish everywhere, which I find really an eyesore.  They are about 100 families live in this kampung, they have a primary school up the hill.

5.30pm - Witness up-close on wildlife activities such as Proboscis monkey high up in the forest canopy.

6.00pm - Visit a charcoal factory nearby.

6.30pm - Catching the beautiful sunset from the boat.

7.30pm - proceed to Santubong wetlands for fireflies and crocodile watching by night.  We were lucky to be able to see the fireflies that night, plus you can rarely see any fireflies during full moon night.  Did not catch any photos, I think it is impossible to take a photos of fireflies in the wild at night, don't you think?

9.00pm - back to Kampung Telaga Air, bath, dinner.

9.30pm - Went to the balai (Community hall) for an evening cultural show by the locals - Bergendang & bertandak.

All in all, we had a great trip..
