In my kitchen #22

Cream sauce pasta with mushroom and bacon

Stuffed pumpkin with creamy chicken

Cheese + Lumut cake

*Langsat susu local - RM10 per 3kg

*Dabai - RM20 per kg

** Dabai and local Langsat are very difficult to find in Kuching at this time around.  Most langsat sold by the road side are from Indonesia, it taste different.  As for Dabai, small or medium size are easier to find, which normally cost around Rm14-rm16.  These Rm20 per kg is huge (for Kuching standard).

So happy with my catched, both from MJC evening market.

Mitsu Tea House

Mitsu Tea House,  RH Plaza, BDC, Kuching

Its been while since our last time at this restaurant, we used to dine here, not sure why we stop coming for the past 2 years.

After getting much recommendation on their dim sum, we decided to come back for dinner.

These are what we ordered..
Shrimp Dumplin (Har Kao) - skin is thicker than Kim Bay - RM5.00
Braised Beef Tripe - nice, but if they slice it smaller would be nicer - RM4.50
Beancurd Skin - nice but a bit oily - RM5.00
Fried rice with shrimp - very generous serving - RM6.90
Talapia Thai Style with rice - I think this is the highlight of the night, we would come back to try other version of this dish - RM8.90

Drinks are reasonably priced, food option aplenty; and the floor looks clean.
Yup we will definitely be coming back.

Breakfast at Kim Bay

On Sunday, we had late breakfast cum lunch at Kim Bay.  This is one of the place where you can find decent dim sum in Kuching.

I love the Har Kao.  It costs RM4.80 per set of 3 pcs.

Normally we really enjoyed this tasty chicken chop burger Macau style, but dunno why on that particular morning, the meat is so tough, something like a leftover-and-fried-again kinda tough.  Cost RM6.50.

The porridge is not bad, Emmett loves it.

Sandwich for Eugene.

Drinks can be quite expensive here.

Reading comics: xventure xplorers

My son Eugene has never had any interest in reading before.  His interest is more towards games, be in on computers, phones, psp, etc.

But lately he starts showing some interest in reading comic books.  His favourite is the x-venture xplorers series.

Here's his collection for this month..

He also started watching the Nat Geo Wild and even asked me all sorts of animal related questions such as..

  • What is the biggest shark?
  • What is the most dangerous animal?
  • If A fights B, who wins?

Of coz I don't have the answers at hand but thanks to uncle Google, now everybody can be a genius :p

From him, I also learned the different types of sharks, eg: great white shark, hammerhead shark, megalodon shark, whale shark - the toothless shark and many more that I can't recall.

I am happy that my children are very curious about almost anything under the sun (I believe all children are too).  And I am more than happy to be able to discover the universe together with them.

In my kitchen: Stuffed ash gourd

Remember the ash gourd in my garden? Well, that plant did not survive for long.
This is the only harvest that I get.

So what should I do with this size of ash gourd?
I stuffed it with mince meat.  I got this wonderful idea from a creative blogger - EastCoastLife.

My recipe is very simple, you can read it here.

This is the result...
I don't quite like the taste, but hubby loves it and he is very impress with presentation ;)

Will try to improve the recipe next time around.

Swimming in 1.8m deep

After 2 years of on-and-off swimming lesson, Eugene finally starts his training from the other end of the pool which is about 1.8 meter deep.

I think I am more nervous than him when he starts swimming in such a depth.
Can't sit still; I keep on following him from the side of the pool.

He is doing quite well I must say; just a bit lacking in stamina.

Series of vomiting and diarrhea

Last week we had a series of vomiting and diarrhea in the house.

It started from me, not sure where did I got it from.  I had one time of vomiting and few toilet visits.

Next was Eugene, same symptoms plus a spinning head.

On Saturday, it was Emmett's turn.  His vomiting was bad.  Almost one in every hour for 6 hours.  We brought him to the clinic and had the meds inserted into his back.  He stopped vomiting immediately after the insertion and he fall asleep from 10am until 4pm.  In the evening, his body felt warm.

The same afternoon, hubby also got infected.

So basically we had a complete circle of vomiting n diarrhea-ing happening in the house throughout the week.
Brothers
As of today, all of us are clear from the virus.  Thank God.

In my garden: Pink guava
