Salmon Ramen - RM26
Tuna Salad Gunka - RM6
Ebi Empura - RM15

Well, food are quite good except for the salmon!
The salmon on the the salad taste like salmon from can that I usually bought for making salmon sandwich at home.  Salmon in the ramen were tough and not as tasty as I wish for.

Karangan #4 | Aku sebiji bola

Tulis sebuah karangan autobiografi bertajuk "aku sebiji bola".

Oh My Petai

My sisters love petai.  Me, not so much.  Ya, I can take 2 or 3 biji, why not.

This week my sisters were searching hi and low for petai in Kuching.

Here's our finding..

At MJC night market, RM3 per plate.  My sister bought all of the 8 plates.

This was what I saw outside Everrise, BDC.  RM10 seikat, and those on the tiny plates, RM5 each plate.

Petai used be considered as food for the poor, I guess now we can say it is food for the rich.  Normal veggie, like sawi or bok choy you can still find RM2 per pack, but petai price can reach up to RM10!

Ok, I think i rather get some asparagus then :)

The King's Curry, Kuching #2

My 2nd time here, this time I went there for lunch.

We ordered..
Teh O Peng and Mango Lassi
Mango Lassi was too sweet and sour.

Poori - RM6
The Poori were oily and a bit lembik compared to those that I normally had elsewhere.  But still tasted good, and the portion were huge.

Mother's Day Weekend

When I think of Mother's Day, I associate it of food :)

This year, my Mother's Day celebration started with a Mother's Day eve dinner at Big Oven.
Chicken Chop - RM20.80
Marinara - RM28.80
Pork Loin BBQ - RM24.80
Lava Choc - RM9.80
On the actual day, we went to Vivacity to have lunch at Zanmai Sushi.  Since we already had our big breakfast few hours earlier, we didn't mind to stand in the long queue waiting for our turn.  Plus because it is Mother's Day, my kids were not complaining at all.  Thanks children :x

Later that evening, I prepared myself a special dish for a quiet dinner at home.
tadaaa.. sambal terung asam...

Well, that was how I spent my Mother's Day weekend.  How was yours?

Murut-Dusun homecook meal, Tenom

 Smoked Buffalo (salai) stew
Chicken curry with eggplant
Tepus jeruk - sour taste

This is very similar to our pulut panggang, but instead of the sambal inti, they use kacang (peanut).

 This is so sedap!
Batang keladi (yam)

My sisters love these!
Duan ubi (cassava)

Generally I find that their food are less salty than food from other races that I've tried.

Ok next is the Tapai, this is their specialty, something like the Tuak in Sarawak.  They have it during special occasion, such as weddings.  But the thing is everybody is drinking using the same straw from the same tempayan.  They have about 20+ tempayan, all filled with the alcohol drinks.  And the straw is specially made from bamboo.  They even have a ring indicator to make sure you really did drink some!

It's sweet, nice to drink, very similar to our Tuak.  I only drank from the tempayan that I shared with my immediate family.  Sorry, not trying to be rude, but seriously..?! Nevermind, I don't want to think too much about it.

This drink is served together with sup tulang kerbau (Buffalo bones soup), the soup is nice and warm.

I enjoy the opportunity to experience food from other culture, such an adventure, just as long as it does not involve any small creepy creatures :)

Sushi King, Vivacity

Lama jugak kami tak ke Sushi King.

On Labour Day, we went to Vivacity for dinner.  Our plan was to have dinner at Sushi Zanmai.  But when we reach there around 7pm,  there was already a long queue infront of Zanmai.  We were too lazy to wait, so we ended up in Sushi King.

We had...

Tokyo Ramen - RM15.90
Ice Green Tea - RM 1 each
Brownie & Vanilla Ice Cream - RM6.50
Ten Don - RM7
Assorted sushi plates

* All price excluding gst & service charges

The green tea and the ramen were tasteless, very disappointing.  But the brownie was really good and the kids did enjoy themselves, what more can we ask for.
